Winter storms here frequently stack massive ice shelves along the beach. Just 50 meters from the coast, look out for the legendary, myth-shrouded Devil’s Stone rising from the water.

A crisp 2-km winter walk running along the Mērsrags canal. The trail is dotted with interactive installations detailing 19 local folklore stories and legends.

Kaltene Stony Beach

The Historic Railway Trail

Walk the section of the historic narrow-gauge railway (“Mazbānītis”) route from Mazirbe to Sīkrags. It serves as a peaceful hiking trail cutting straight through snow-laden pine forests, completely disconnected from modern civilization.

Final Destination – Sīkrags

One of the oldest Livonian fishing villages on the coast. In winter, its beach is entirely empty, wild, and pristine. It is the perfect place to conclude your journey—listening to the roar of the Baltic Sea beneath the ice while sipping hot tea from a thermos.
